The Sydney Apprentice exchange competition 2014 sponsored by the Beer and Beef Club Perth is now closed.
The competition was open to HGT Apprentices who we asked to describe to us their thoughts on Western Australia’s next trend in food or dining and where they fit into this. Our applicants were interviewed by a panel of judges made up from the Beer and Beef Club Perth and HGT. They were asked to expand upon their entries and provide more information on themselves and what they hope to achieve from their studies.
All of our applicants were outstanding and we had a difficult time deciding who should be put forward.
The winners are:
Gabriela Fabrega Toro, hosted by Pearl of Highgate & Ruby-Jayne Clifford, hosted by The Subiaco Hotel.
With the generous sponsorship from the Beer and Beef Club Perth Gabriela and Ruby-Jayne will be flying to Sydney in February 2015 to complete two days work experience in a leading signature restaurant.
Pictures from their experience will be available on our social media sites. Be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to track their journey.
1. Must be over 18 due to unaccompanied travel
2. Must be a current HGT apprentice at the time of travel (Feb 2015).
3. Must be available to travel at a time to be arranged in Feb 2015.
4. Must have the authorisation of the Host Employer
Entrants were required to describe, in no more than 500 words (approximately one A4 typed page) Perth’s current food scene and what they see as the next trend in food or dining in Western Australia. They were encouraged to include some of their own recent personal experiences and where they felt they fit into this.
Entrants were then invited to a panel interview.
