TOMORROW’S APPRENTICES COMPETE IN SCHOOL MASTER CHEF COOK OFF
Youths Shun Cooking Careers
WA faces a chef shortage in part because perceptions of the industry have been warped by reality TV cooking shows and young people are reluctant to work evenings and weekends.
Hospitality Group Training's (HGT) Annual Awards presentation was held at Perth Arena on Monday 31st August 2015. The awards highlight the importance of apprentice chefs in the workforce and applaud the efforts of employers who are willing to take on apprentice chefs to launch their career. It is also a chance for industry professionals and industry bodies to come together to recognise the hard work and achievements of the top apprentices and trainees.
Business wants closer training ties.
With apprenticeship completion rates below 30 percent in some industries, the business sector is continuing to push for reforms to vocational education and training.
