In conjunction with various schools in the metropolitan area, HGT has developed several VET (Vocational Education and Training) programs which give students the opportunity to investigate career options and develop industry-specific skills.

Structured Work-based Learning
HGT is able to arrange work placements for students from hospitality vocational programs on a fee-for-service basis. HGT coordinates the placements and conducts industry-recognised assessments in the workplace. Students receive an industry-recognised Statement of Attainment which articulates to an apprenticeship, traineeship or further training/study. HGT can also validate school-based delivery of vocational subjects to allow for Certification at Level 1 in Hospitality (Operations).

Catholic College Onsite Program
HGT's Catholic College Onsite Program was introduced in 1997. Students participating in the program receive training in Food and Beverage, Kitchen or Front Office. On a fee-for-service basis, HGT provides industry-accredited off-the-job training, work placements and assessments of on-the-job competencies. At the end of the program, students receive a Certificate in Hospitality (Operations) Level 1, which articulates to an apprenticeship, traineeship or further training/study.

Internet Training
Thanks to an innovative, flexible learning package developed by HGT and WestOne, students are now able to access a variety of core hospitality modules on the internet. This internet training combines text, audio, virtual reality, live chat and video to create a learning experience which is at the cutting-edge of information delivery.

HGT can act as the 'virtual' classroom, with industry-qualified trainers providing support and relevant assessments.

Career Guidance
HGT works closely with Perth schools to provide students with free career guidance and information regarding the hospitality, food and tourism industries. HGT representatives are also available to give career talks at schools within the metropolitan area.

School Specific Training Resources
HGT can customise school-specific training resources to assist teachers in the delivery of school based traineeships, and record books to measure on-the-job competencies in accordance with WACE requirements.
