Why should I become a Hospitality Group Training apprentice or trainee?

“What I enjoyed most about my apprenticeship was that you get to work closely with other people, doing something you enjoy. I really love food and decided to become an apprentice with HGT after completing my TEE. If you are passionate about food, are creative and would like the opportunity to travel as part of your career then I would recommend training with HGT to become a chef”. |

“During my time with HGT I was successful in securing the position of Executive Chef for the Hospitality Youth Skills Showcase 2008. This gave me the opportunity to lead some of WA’s best apprentices to prepare and cook a 4 course meal for 500 people. This experience has stayed with me and gave me great insight into the skills required to make such an event successful. The team at HGT continually encouraged me to enter competitions and gain new experiences”. |

“I think doing my apprenticeship with HGT gave me a high level of exposure to the industry. The Industry Consultants always encouraged me to get involved in competitions, cooking demonstrations and events. I was in the Showcase team 2 years in a row and this experience has stayed with me for a long time. In my 3rd year I took part in a cooking demonstration at the Fine Food and Wine festival. Although it was nerve racking having to cook and present in front of people, I got a lot of support and learnt a lot in the process. It was great to have HGT throughout my apprenticeship as I knew that any time I needed help or advice about the industry, there was always someone there to help”. |
