For the second year in a row a Hospitality Group Training employee has been awarded the title of Best School Based Trainee/Apprentice at the Group Training Australia WA (GTAWA) Awards of Excellence. The Awards ceremony was held on Friday 30th September 2016 where a number of VIPs, apprentices, trainees, parents, school representatives, host employers and Group Training Organisations gathered to celebrate the success of the last 12 months.
GTAWA Chairman Stuart Diepeveen said “Group Training is unique by the fact that the apprentice and trainee is employed by the GTO who organises all theory with on-the job employment and training being provided by host employers within the industry. “The 2016 Awards of Excellence event is a celebration of the top young men and women who have committed themselves to achieving excellence in their chosen career".
HGT put forward a nomination for School Based Trainee Tehlia Graziani who for 12 months worked front of house in one of Perth's top authentic Italian restaurants, Galileo Buona Cucina. The venue prides itself on its excellence in customer service and Tehlia committed herself to that ethos throughout her traineeship. She exceeded the expectations of her host employer as well as her HGT Mentor. Tehlia undertook her traineeship one day per week where she was released from school into the workplace. She completed her traineeship while also working a part-time job and studying for her year 12 exams.
HGT are certain that one day we will see Tehlia running the food and beverage service of a top restaurant or hotel, she has her sights set high and will no doubt achieve her goals. Tehlia will start by enrolling in TAFE next year to undertake a Diploma in Hospitality Management.
