As part of the Government's economic response to the Coronavirus, $1.3 billion will be made available to 70,000 small businesses to help them keep around 117,000 apprentices and trainees across the country in work and training.
The 50% wage subsidy, backdated to 1 January 2020 (or however long they have been in your employ) to a maximum of $7,000 will be available for employers of apprentices and trainees with less than 20 full time employees. HGT will apply for this for all host employers in 2 weeks time as soon it becomes available. Non HGT hosts with apprentices should contact their AASN for information.
