HOSTPLUS’ Cook For Your Career (C4YC) - 2013 Competition

Latest News

Australia’s culinary legends are opening their kitchens to wanna-be chefs. Do you know someone who’s got what it takes?

Launched in 2011, the Cook for Your Career (C4YC) competition gives people the opportunity to realise their dream of a career in the kitchen, while endeavouring to give the Australian hospitality industry a helping hand when it comes to fostering quality chef talent. As the hospitality industry’s leading super fund, HOSTPLUS was eager to assist in addressing the national skills shortage currently burdening the hospitality industry.

Not only does HOSTPLUS support the next generation of chefs, but also the competition’s chef and restaurant partners who are some of Australia’s most highly awarded hospitality professionals. This year’s line-up includes Shane Delia - Maha (VIC), Peter Doyle - @ The Quay (NSW), Ryan Squires – Esquire (QLD), Nick Moutou - Il Piatto (NT), Camillo Crugnale - Assagio (SA), David Coomer - Print Hall (WA) and Graham Taute - Wrest Point (Tasmania).

So how does it all work? After an online entry period, one candidate from each state or territory is selected. Then it’s over to the general public to vote for whom they think shows the greatest promise. The two top cooks from the public voting phase will battle it out over the stoves in a public cook-off as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, in front of a live audience and a panel of judges. The winner will receive a full training apprenticeship with one of the nation’s top restaurants.

The two grand finalists will receive a quality foodie experience in Melbourne including flights to and from Melbourne*, two nights’ accommodation, a tour of Melbourne’s outstanding foodie destinations, and a chance to network with the hospitality industry.

Want to be in the mix or know someone that can cook? To be in the running for this incredible prize head to cookforyourcareer.com.au, upload a photo of your signature dish and tell us why you’d like to win an apprenticeship with one of Australia’s leading restaurants. But be quick – entries close 5pm December 14th.
